1. General information about VIA University College

Introduction

VIA University College is Denmark’s largest and most international University College – also known as a university of applied sciences – with a total of 18,500 students of which 2,500 are international students from all over the world.

Our educational programs cater to new as well as old professions, and belong to a long tradition of high-standard education in Denmark. Some of our programs are more than 100 years old and have been a contributory factor in shaping the renowned Danish welfare society.

VIA University College covers the Central Denmark Region with a total of eight modern campuses, which all are characterized by a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment where students meet across programs and faculties. At our campuses, students will have 24/7 access to the modern facilities, a variety of labs and workshops with the latest technology, recreational facilities and accommodation, cafés and lounge areas and in general become a part of a professional and international environment.

Accreditation

VIA is a certified holder of an ERASMUS+ charter. We are a member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and hold a Qualification Certificate from the People’s Republic of China. VIA is also Denmark’s only accredited institution by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT).

Degree Programs

VIA offers 16 AP and Bachelor’s degree programs in English in the areas of business, construction, design and engineering. All of our programs are developed in close cooperation with relevant industries. As a result, our graduates have unique career opportunities.

Research, development and entrepreneurship are integrated parts of our programs. For several years, VIA has been named the most entrepreneurial university institution in Denmark with 25% of students participating in innovation activities.

With a Scandinavian approach to teaching, our students will experience problem-based learning and group work, participate in research and innovation activities and gain hands-on experience through internships. We offer small-size classes where our students are expected to actively engage and exchange ideas. Our teaching environment is informal and based on mutual respect with easy access to lecturers and staff.

At our campuses, students will have 24/7 access to the modern and basic facilities such as computer areas and libraries, a variety of labs and workshops with the latest technology, recreational facilities, accommodation close to campus, cafés and lounge areas, career services and in general become a part of a professional and international environment.

1. Accommodation for international students

Aarhus

A lot of international students live in Skjoldhøjkollegiet and in Ravnsbjerg Kollegiet situated in the western and the southern part of the city, respectively.

These dormitories are both furnished and at affordable prices.

Be sure to apply in good time – even before receiving your letter of admission – as accommodation is always in great demand in Aarhus.

Herning

At VIA Campus Herning, you have many options of finding both good and cheap accommodation including:

• • Birk Campus (Students’ Village), only a few minutes’ walk from the school. Birk College consists of approx.250 high-quality flats of various sizes and prices.
  • Tietgensgade in the centre of Herning. There are 84 flats for young people in the area; these flats are also of a high quality, and of different sizes and prices.
