Charles Sturt University (CSU) is an Australian multi-campus public university located in New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Queensland. Established in 1989, it was named in honour of Captain Charles Sturt, a British explorer who made expeditions into regional New South Wales and South Australia.

The University has multiple main campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga. The University also has specialist campuses in Canberra, Goulburn, Manly and Parramatta. Courses are also delivered in conjunction with Study Group Australia at CSU Study Centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Wangaratta.

Charles Sturt University offers various Distance Education programs at Bachelor and Post-Graduate level as well as the Single Subject Study program. CSU also has various course delivery partnerships with several TAFE institutions across the country.

Faculties and Academic Departments

CSU has Three Main Faculties, each offering a range of courses and discipline opportunities. Each Faculty comprises a number of Schools and centers for specific areas of study and research:

Faculty of Arts and Education

The Faculty of Arts and Education covers a broad range courses between the Arts and Education Disciplines.

The Arts Discipline cover subject segments of visual arts, performing arts, communications, history, human services, literature, philosophy, sociology, and theology. Schools & Centres include:

Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences

The Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences brings together a range of courses, focusing on real-world challenges in areas of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences disciplines.

The Business Discipline has garnered attention by employers for producing graduates excelling in today's business world challenges. Their distance education postgraduate PhD/DBA and Masters programs are eagerly sought-after, both nationally and internationally. The Business Schools and centres facilitated include:

Accommodation

When you are away from home, it is important to feel safe, comfortable and happy.

There are a range of accommodation options available to you while you study with us. You can choose either the flexibility of student residences, freedom and independence of renting or share houses, or the supportive atmosphere of a homestay host.

Homestay

A homestay is a cultural exchange between an international student or visitor and an individual or family in the host country. The “host” provides accommodation and support for an agreed-upon period of time and rate. Homestay can be tailored to provide meals, assistance, and other activities.

To live with an English-speaking family.

Homestays can be a rewarding experience and present an unrivalled opportunity for genuine cultural exchange. All homestay families have hosting experience, and have been cleared by police. Their homes are inspected before students are allowed to reside there.

  • How much will I pay?

From $315 a week, including your room, breakfast, self-serve lunch on weekends, laundry facilities and telephone access.

Private accommodation

If you’re over 18 you can choose to look for a private house, flat or apartment, which you can rent furnished or unfurnished. If you choose an unfurnished house, flat or apartment, you’ll need to provide your own furniture and appliances. Sharing rental accommodation with other students is a good way to reduce your living expenses.

  • What will I get?

Greater personal freedom.

Many different types of rental accommodation available in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. To rent a house or apartment requires a security bond (usually one month’s rent).

  • How much will I pay?

$250 to $350+ a week, with living expenses (food, utilities, transport, entertainment, etc.) incurring additional costs.

Student residences

  • What will I get?

Quality, furnished student accommodation.

Convenient, safe and secure locations. The residences are walking distance to excellent libraries, art galleries, sporting venues, restaurants, festivals and a diverse range of entertainment.

Shared rooms, single rooms and studios are available.

  • How much will I pay?

Rates vary depending on the type of accommodation you choose and the length of your stay, but prices start from $250 per week.
