St Mary's University

St Mary's University, Twickenham is a public university in Strawberry Hill, Twickenham, in South West London. Founded in 1850, it is generally acknowledged to be the oldest Roman Catholic university in the United Kingdom. Formerly called St Mary’s University College, it was granted full university title by the Privy Council on 23 January 2014. Since July 2019, the university has hosted the Mater Ecclesiae College, whose Ecclesiastical faculties enshrined since 2013 in the "Bellarmine Institute" was brought in after the closure of Heythrop College, University of London earlier in 2019.

Entry Requirements

• Applicants completing the Diploma of Completed Secondary Education are required to complete an International Foundation program, IB or A Levels prior to being admitted to an undergraduate course at St Mary's University.
• Applicants with very high grades in the Diploma of Specialized Secondary Education may be considered for direct entry.
• Students who have successfully completed the first year at a recognized university may also be exempt from taking the International Foundation program.
• Undergraduate, foundation and Study Abroad IELTS requirements: IELTS 6.0
• Postgraduate IELTS requirements: 6.5

Accommodation

The prices include a meal package that includes breakfast Monday to Friday, brunch on Saturday and Sunday and a meal every evening. All meals are taken in the campus refectory, which has an extensive menu to suit a variety of needs.

There are different halls options to suit a range of student requirements and budgets, including both en-suite accommodation and halls with shared bathroom facilities.

16 Strawberry Hill Road is a good option for international students who would like to stay over Christmas as this is the only accommodation open over this time. It is also best suited for those who would like a quieter environment.

St Mary's is located near to the towns of Twickenham, Teddington, Richmond and Kingston. These townsprovide lots of student-friendly accommodation within a short distance of the university.

St Mary's Accommodation Service works very closely with a number of local student accommodation providers and gives advice and support to international students looking for off-campus housing. International students living in private sector accommodation may find that they need to provide their landlord with details of a guarantor based in the UK.
