About

Kongju National University was established in 1948 as Kongju College of Education and its status was elevated as a four-year institution in 1991. After integrating with universities in the region, KNU is currently operating seven colleges and eight graduate schools in the Gongju-Yesan-Cheonan area. With more than 1,000 administrators doing their best for some 20,000 students, KNU is developing into a national university representing the Chungnam and Sejong province.

Kongju campus is located about 15 minutes away from the Sejong City Government Complex, which is developing into Korea’s Administrative Capital City. Gongju Campus has a well-known history and tradition as a College of Education, College of Humanities & Social Sciences, College of Natural Science, College of Nursing & Health Administration, and the College of Arts. KNU is leading the way in the mutual development between Gongju City and Sejong City.

Furthermore in Cheonan City, which is developing into a new metropolitan area, it has established the Cheonan campus to specialize in the College of Engineering in order to develop a connection with the industrial belt located in the northern Chungnam province, which includes Asan City, and to play the role of a growth engine for the industrial area.
